Thank you for this truthful, respectful and affirming article. We need more prophets and prophetic voices, female and male, in the RCC. It is patently obvious that the Church hierarchy cannot tolerate prophetic leadership from women. What a shame. I will learn from anyone, vowed religious or layperson, who is actively living the mission Jesus the Christ gave us - Love God and love your neighbor as yourself.

It was such a clear time for me, from disgruntled executive to happy Jesuit. The story told itself. The decision to edit little meant being open about his personal life, before and after ordination. Discussing religious life is a fairly new venture for Martin, who admits his early understanding of Catholicism came mostly from several years of religion classes outside Catholic schools.

Through talking with the psychiatrist, Martin, who had first explored the idea of becoming a priest two years earlier after discovering Thomas Merton on a PBS special, realized that the priesthood was exactly what he wanted.
